Welcome Photon Warriors!
As of this morning, we have officially received the money for the Kickstarter so many of you generously donated. Here’s what we plan on doing with it:
1. We are paying off the bills for the trip to Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. As some of you may have seen, we got some great footage out there, so much so that we are considering a trip back to meet with more players.
2. We just bought a used cinema lens for our camera system. It allows for better shooting in low light situations, which will be helpful as we shoot more laser tag footage, and the higher quality glass and controls will enhance our picture quality moving forward.
3. We are purchasing the equipment necessary to publish DVD and Blu-Ray copies of the film. We are keeping the publishing in-house in order to keep costs low, but want to allow Kickstarter backers their choice of format.
4. In the next few weeks we head out to Dallas for our interview with George Carter III, and some of the players and staff out there. Because COVID is still raging, we are limiting the trip to a single day, but hope to get everything we need from this one trip. No word yet on the exact date, but we will make every effort to interview as many people as possible, though of course our priority is George. If scheduling isn’t possible at the time, we will also arrange interviews via Zoom with anyone we can’t see on that trip.
After that, we start planning the next phase of the film. We are hoping the budget will allow for a trip to LA, and New Orleans to visit the replica Photon field there to get some shots of it in all its glory. We are also hoping to license some music, footage from the TV series, and some of the news stories from back in the day.
We are well on the way with the film though, with almost one terabyte of footage already filmed, and we are still working on booking dates to film in Baltimore, New Jersey, and Virginia Beach, and other locations if there is enough interest. We’ll also be shooting some b-roll in Ocean City, Maryland in the next few weeks as well.
Thank you again for your continued support, and I’ll have another update for you very soon!
