September Update

Welcome Photon Warriors,

It’s been a while since I published an update, so I wanted to take the time to do so and give everyone a head’s up on the production of the film.

I’m thrilled to say that things are coming along very nicely and we have a lot of exciting developments. That being said, the events of the past few weeks and the resurgence of COVID have lead up to come to the decision to delay the release of the film. There’s a few reasons for this, but most importantly, there has been a renewed interest for the team at C5D Productions to visit more former Photon locations and film more interview footage. We want to tell the most complete and compelling version of the story of Photon possible, and I think there are tons of stories we haven’t heard yet. Of course, this requires two things in particular: Time and Money. By delaying the release of the film, we’ve given ourselves the time to get this done. The money part is a little trickier.

The Kickstarter campaign we held this time last year was a resounding success, and has allowed us to film hours of interviews, travel to Dallas, Kentucky, and other locations, and has provided the funds necessary for the professional-level equipment we are using in the production. That being said, while we still have some of that money left, in order to accomplish all we’d like to do, we might need financial support to be able to do it. We are still discussing fundraising options and are putting together a renewed budget, but we may be asking for your help in order to make these additional trips happen. There are lots of things you can do to help, even if you can’t contribute financially. Maybe you can coordinate a Photon Reunion so we can maximize the time we spend at your location? Perhaps you can offer frequent flyer miles or hotel points to help offset the cost of travel? Maybe you have a gift card laying around that could feed the team in your town, or maybe you just have a spare couch that we could crash on. The point is, even if you don’t think you can help, you probably can, and any help is greatly appreciated. I hope to have a budget developed for each location we want to visit, so that we can hopefully begin planning these trips soon.

Now on to the exciting news. First, please welcome Ben Anthony to our team as the Director of Animation. Ben is an incredibly talented animator who is creating some amazing work for the film. Let me tell you, his vision is absolutely astounding, and I can’t wait to share his take on Photon with you all.

Secondly, it’s looking like we have cast our narrator. I’m note quite ready to disclose who it is, but this Hollywood actor has had roles in Star Trek, and several video games, and will bring a lot to the table, plus it beats you having to hear me narrate. πŸ™‚ We hope to have the contract locked down for that in a few weeks.

Third, we’ve started early conversations about distribution, and hope that this will be an important step towards getting our film out to the masses. We have a very long way to go of course, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.

We’ve also opened up a Facebook page to spread the news and promote the film. Be sure to like and follow for the latest information. We’ll still be posting updates here, but the Facebook page will give you the most up to date information. https://www.facebook.com/Let-There-Be-Light-Photon-and-the-Birth-Life-and-Legacy-of-Laser-Tag-108916858197132/

Finally, we are in the process of cutting the full length trailer, and hope to have that ready for everyone in the next few weeks. Once it’s complete, please share it as much as possible…the more support we have, the better.

Thanks again everyone for your continued support, and may the light shine!
