A Long Awaited Update

Welcome Photon Warriors,

First, an apology. I know so many of my posts kick off with these, but one thing I’ve learned is the difficulty of trying to make a movie, especially with such a small staff. While trying to complete the definitive story of Photon, I’ve also been working a day job, managing a family, working in various roles on other films, and doing video work for a few clients. Obviously I can’t quit some of those things, in particular the family and the day job, I can realign my priorities, and so I’ve come to the decision that, at least for now, C5D Productions will no longer be taking on any clients, and I personally won’t be joining any other production jobs until Photon is complete. As someone who uses his creativity to pay (at least some of) the bills, it’s sometimes tough to focus on a single project, but I’ve kept all of you Photon Warriors waiting enough.

It’s also time for you to get a real look at what has happened behind the scenes, and therefore, we’ve decided to start cutting the film into segments that will be posted online in the coming weeks. The concept for the film isn’t necessarially changing, we just want to start releasing some smaller chunks of it for you, the fans, and to start gathering your feedback, so that the final, feature-length edit is something that meets all of your expectations.

Kickstarter backers will get first crack at viewing the segments before they go online for the general public. We may also consider creating a Patreon account as well for people interested in backing the project, but right now we are focused strictly on getting these segments built out. We hope to have the first segment online in the next few weeks.

We’re also going to get the final trailer for the film posted on-line. It premiered at MAGfest all the way back in 2022, but we never posted it online.

Until then, thank you all again for your continued support. We really are looking forward to bringing your the Photon documentary you deserve.
